Business Retreat Programme

Personal development and leadership

Partly based on and enriched with, our three day seminar goes into the thinking of foremost economists, leaders, management gurus, scientist, athletes and spiritual thinkers as well as the knowledge and rituals of indigenous tribes from different parts of the world.

The program is modular and can be adapted as appropiate. The specific situation is the common thread in the program. Day 3 can be fully utilized for a reflection on the question: where do we add value as an organization?

Day 1. The importance of perception
We are born with an open mind. We are bursting with creativity and intuitively we know exactly what to do to get what we want. And that’s what we do, without shame. We can do this, because our brain activity is still relatively low and this leaves enough space for perception (non judgemental observation), our intuition and creativity. We learn how to behave ourselves in the eyes of parents, teachers, family members and other people in our direct environment. We learn to look at ourselves through the eyes of others. Slowly but surely our authenticity disappears to the background and we build up our brain activity. We learn to trust our sensible abilities and our strong intuition diminishes in power. Perception is at the basis of new forms of leadership. This is why we will focus on perception on day one.

Day 2. The myth of me and the bigger you
Ego means identification with a picture of oneself, a self-judgement, a delusion of self, a sense of self. Albert Einstein referred to ego as the optical illusion of consciousness, in other words; the myth of  me. Let there be no misunderstanding: we need our ego. Without ego we wouldn’t have made it to where we stand now. But it is important for us to know and recognize that we have an ego rather than being ego. To satisfy its needs ego plays a lot of different parts. In a world of role playing personalities, there are very few people who are not trying to portray themselves as better or different instead of just being themselves.
They are the ones who stand out and make a difference. Authenticity is the basis of powerful, charismatic leadership. That’s why we focus on ego on the second day.

Day 3. Rituals in business
There are countless rituals in the boardroom and on the work floor. There are generic and specific rituals. They all, without exception, stem from the universal basic needs of all people. Rituals can speed up and obstruct renewal and change. This is why insights into rituals and the way they work can be a valuable contribution to new forms of leadership based on authenticity and charisma. Day three  focuses on rituals.
